Upson County E911 began operations in August of 1995 as a basic 911 system. The system was enhanced in 1997 to identify a caller’s name, address, telephone number and Emergency Service Number.
The Emergency Management Agency is the coordinating entity for emergency planning and preparedness activities for Thomaston and Upson County.
Employing over 315 EMS Professionals, MGA provides emergency medical transport services, non-emergency transport services, neo-natal transport, special event coverage and community CPR training.
Upson County is currently serviced by six volunteer fire departments. These departments are equipped with 1 Pumper truck and 1 Tanker truck.
The Upson County Rescue Unit primarily serves the Upson County area, but often responds to surrounding counties for mutual aid calls.
